The Galactic Empire, commonly known throughout the stories as the Empire, is an organization that can be described best as the eviler version of the Republic. After destroying the Galactic Republic and revealing his true self, the Imperials, lead by Emperor Palpatine, ruled the galaxy through fear for a while, causing outright hatred for them as they committed atrocious acts. When the Droids were reactivated and started becoming a serious threat, the Empire waged war on them to keep their hold on the galaxy. They are the antagonists in The Last of the Droids.
