Darth Sidious, known during the Clone Wars as Chancellor Palpatine and during The Last of the Droids as Emperor Palpatine, also known as The Emperor, is a Force-sensitive Human male during many eras, and the main villain in the crossover. During the Clone Wars, he was known as Chancellor Palpatine to the general public, and was always giving the new information about the Confederacy of Independent Systems whenever they created something new. Sidious gave the Confederacy orders to attack planets and take them over. He is the one responsible for the devastating Clone Wars, as he controlled the wars on both sides, resulting in the deaths of billions of lifeforms.
After the Clone Wars ended, Sidious later had Count Dooku killed, convinced Anakin to turn to the Dark Side, and had all of the Jedi and Separatist leaders killed and all of the Battle Droids shut down. Seeing as no one was left to oppose him, he destroyed the Republic, shed his "kind" image, and created the Galactic Empire. He reigned for about 5 or so years, controlling every planet and every living thing with fear by using weapons such as the Death Star to keep people from protesting. When the droid army returns as the New Confederacy of Independent Systems, now allied with the ponies, Sidious does everything he can to destroy the growing Confederacy and keep his power.
Personality[]
Darth Sidious can be best described as heartless, malicious, psychopathic and arrogant: in other words, he's evil incarnate. He and TF-1726, the T-series tactical droid leader of the New Confederacy, have one thing in common: they both want absolute control of the entire galaxy, and will do anything to get it. The one thing that TF doesn't have, though, is Sidious' utter lack of empathy or shame when he does something evil; it should be noted that even some Sith are disgusted by Sidious' atrocious behavior.
In his quest for power, he played the part of the kindhearted, grandfatherly Chancellor of the Republic for decades, and fooled everyone, even the Jedi, into thinking that he was just an unassuming, modest man from Naboo. Thanks to this disguise, he was able to win the hearts of billions of people and hide his true motives so he could get acceptance for his new Empire.
Due to his ability to see the future, Sidious often planned out things ahead of time, and is known to manipulate certain events so they would tip in his favor. He is also very treacherous, and quickly turns on those who he felt didn't need anymore, even if they trusted him with their lives and were completely loyal to him, Darth Tyranus and Pinkamena being obvious examples.
Sidious is also very arrogant and selfish, believing that he is the most important person in the galaxy and that he would be able to defeat any enemy. Most of his treacherous schemes were often because of his greed and his fear of losing all of his power. When this starts to happen during The Last of the Droids era, he scrambles to destroy the New CIS with his army, usually resulting in terrible losses due to his commanders.
History[]
The Clone Wars[]
Discovery of Equestria[]
Darth Sidious was the first to discover Equestria and decided immediately that it should be placed under his control. He told Grievous to head to Equestria and take it over by force. As Chancellor Palpatine, he told Jedi Masters Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi to head to Equestria and liberate it of the Separatists so they could open up negotiations.

In all reality, though, he had forseen how powerful the ponies were, and knew that if they allied with them, he would be able to acquire their powers for himself. As a result, Sidious told Dooku and Grievous to occupy Equestria, and then later retreat when the Republic forces arrived. Unfortunately for him, both Dooku and Grievous took their roles too far: when the Republic arrived, they were confronted with a massive blockade instead of the small number of ships that Sidious had ordered Grievous to have. This, in combination with Grievous' tactical brilliance and the ponies' desire to keep the Republic out, proved to be disastrous and nearly all of the Republic forces had been destroyed. After the batle was over, Anakin told Palpatine that he hated the ponies and wanted to kill them. Palpatine told Anakin that he wanted to still open talks up with them, though in his mind, he too was starting to hate the ponies.
Attempts to Retake Equestria[]
As the ponies proved to be just as good in combat as the droids, Sidious realized he had to move forward with his plans to capture Equestria before it was too late. When Teth was reclaimed, he ordered Anakin and Obi-Wan to head back to Equestria and take it by force if necessary. The 2nd Battle of Equestria began not too long after, as the ponies had been given a warning ahead of time by Dooku, just as Sidious had planned. Due to them not having many forces when they returned from Teth, the Separatists were almost defeated. Sidious was sure that he was going to win, but soon Rainbow Dash exploited the many weaknesses of the Venator-class Star Destroyers and blew up two of them, while sending her air squadron to destroy the BTL-B Y-Wing Bombers and ARC-170 Starfighters. Along with the ground forces getting a boost from Pinkie Pie's anger at the clones having killed TF-1726, the Separatists regained the advantage and forced the Republic to leave Equestria for good. Palpatine was very angry, but he later told Obi-Wan and Anakin to not worry, and that soon they would probably regain Equestria. Deep down, he planned to destroy the ponies for allying with the Separatists.
The Mask Slips[]
Sidious continued his role as manipulator of both sides of the Clone Wars for a while, having some battles tipped in his faovr in order to win favor for his future empire. He later saw the fear, anger and uncertainty in Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, and made steps to feed seeds of doubt to the troubled Jedi, who was distrusted among the Council and plagued by his own fears. He started to tell him about the Dark Side of the Force, using his wife Padmé as an incentive.
After the 1st Battle of Coruscant, in which he betrayed Darth Tyranus, Palpatine came back to Coruscant and gained considerable emergency powers, overstepping his limits as chancellor. Not long after the destruction of Grievous on Utapau, Anakin came to see that Sidious was the Dark Lord of the Sith that they had been looking for, and told Mace Windu. Unfortunately, Sidious killed all of the Jedi sent to arrest him, including Mace, whose hesitation in delivering the killing blow gave Anakin the time to intervene and gave Sidious the chance to hurl Mace out the window. Once again playing on Anakin's emotions, Sidious minted Anakin as his new Sith apprentice, Darth Vader, and told him to kill all of the Jedi in the Jedi Temple, including the younglings. During this time, he destroyed the Republic, which had stood for over 25,000 years, and created the Galactic Empire.
While Vader was on his new mission, Sidious contacted all of the Clone commanders and issued Order 66, in which the clones were to execute the Jedi should they attempt to lead a coup against the Republic. Nearly every single Jedi was killed, save for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, the latter of whom Sidious fought himself. He later sent Vader to Mustafar to kill the Separatist leaders, and ordered all battle droids to be shut down immediately. When Vader lost his arm and legs during the Mission to Mustafar, not to mention having hot ash and lava in his lungs, Sidious had a special suit constructed to keep him alive, complete with cybernetic limbs. He later told Vader that he had killed Padmé out of anger, sending Vader into a sorrowful rage while he watched with a smile on his face. Not long after, he begins construction on the Death Star, and fully assumes his role as Emperor Palpatine.
Reign of the Emperor[]

As Emperor Palpatine, Sidious controlled every planet and every living thing with fear. Taking his subordinate Tarkin's suggestions, he used the designs for weapons such as the Death Star to put fear in people by threatening to blow up their planets should they consider rebelling against him. While there were some people who supported the Emperor, many hated him, though they were too afraid to do anything about it. He sent his apprentice Darth Vader to wipe out all other enemies so that his hold on power was absolute.
There was, however, one planet that he hadn't occupied due to its role in the Clone Wars. As Chancellor, he wasn't able to attack, but as Emperor, he was ready to put his plan into action, and he was going to get his revenge one way or the other.
That planet was Equestria.
The Last of the Droids era[]
Revenge on Equestria[]
Darth Sidious sent his new apprentice, Darth Vader to head back to Equestria, the CIS planet taken over years ago, to wipe out all of the ponies. His plan was to use the DS1-Oribital Battle Station, which was still under construction, to blow up Equestria after they had recovered the energy from the planet and killed the ponies. During Vader's invasion of Equestria, a Stormtrooper kicked out energy from the TIE Crawler they were guarding and it activated the deactivated B1 Battle Droids, B2 Super Battle Droids, a B2-HA, a few Armored Assault Tanks, 2 Munificent-class star frigates, 1 Providence-class carrier/destroyer, and TF-1726. When the droids realized that they had been betrayed by the Emperor and that their leaders had been killed, they became angry, and they along with the Mane 6 went in on the offensive, starting the 3rd Battle of Equestria. Despite having a decent sized force, Vader lost nearly all of his forces and had to retreat. Sidious was very upset, but told Vader they would soon try again as soon as they got their forces up. He was mostly unconcerned about the New CIS, believing that they were just a small force that he could easily handle.
A Much Bigger Conflict[]
Not long after the newly formed New Confederacy finished building the Malevolence II, Sidious realized that the New CIS was serious in trying to destroy the Empire, and scrambled to destroy its place of origin, Equestria. He sent his forces to the planet a fourth time, resulting in the 4th Battle of Equestria, but even then he lost. Fed up with his subordinates' constant failures, he went to Equestria himself to personally lead his forces to destroy the ponies and the New Confederacy, resulting in the 5th Battle of Equestria. Even while he was there, he still lost and was hit by TF and the rest of the droids. Swearing that they will one day be destroyed, the Emperor left while the ponies and droids celebrated.
It was then that Sidious realized that the New Confederacy was going to be more than just a "small force". He rallied all of his commanders into protecting the planets that were still under Imperial control, and to have a tighter grip on all the planets that had once been controlled by the Confederacy.
In the meantime, he began to work on another plan in case he did lose his power to the droids...
